Welcome back to another exciting week with Worlds Apart Words Together and this week we have a very exciting guest lined up for you who will be introducing himself. We have the privilege to talk to him on our podcast and we cannot wait to share his story with you all!  Who are you?  "I’m Nyls Korstanje, I’m a Dutch swimmer and am currently training for the Paris Olympic Games. I finished college last year and moved back to the Netherlands to swim full time." When did you start swimming? More importantly, what kept you going?  "I started swimming when I lived in Boston when I was young. I lived there for 3 years together with my family. I went to a YMCA summer camp my first year and we were all grouped into groups based on level of swimming. I got out into the worst swimming group since I only knew how to do breaststroke and not freestyle. In the Netherlands kids only learn breaststroke when they’re young. So I took lessons and learned quick. Then I joined a swim team and...

However, despite efforts to find this app, it seems non-existent for now. Thus, we'll veer away from research and shift our focus to personal experiences and insights. In the journey of self-improvement and personal growth, our minds can serve as ...

Setting healthy boundaries is essential for safeguarding our mental and emotional well-being. It's not about building walls, but rather establishing guidelines that honor our values and limits while fostering healthier relationships. This week we're diving into the importance of setting boundaries and how to foster them effectively. Self-Awareness as the Foundation If you have followed along you know that in the past week we have talked about self-growth and some essentials regarding this process. One of the most important aspect of any type of self-growth is being self-aware. This self-awareness is also the foundation of being able to set boundaries. Make sure to take the time to reflect on your needs, values, and limits. What makes you feel fulfilled? What are your non-negotiables? Unde...

As twenty-somethings navigating the rollercoaster ride of adulting, one of the most significant challenges we have faced is building and maintaining meaningful friendships (besides ours!). Gone are the days of effortless, instantaneous "friendships" formed on the playground or within the confounds of school. Instead, we find ourselves in a world where making friends requires intentional effort and a willingness to step out of our comfort zones. If you are in the same boat, feeling a bit lost in the hustle and bustle of adult life, – you are not alone, and there are strategies we can employ to navigate this terrain together. Understanding the Differences The transition from carefree school/college days to the realities of adulthood can be scary, to say the least. Suddenly, the safety net of familiar faces and shared experiences is no longer there. Instead, we find ourselves immersed in a sea of strangers, each navigating their own journey. The dynamics of friendships and rel...
