Marit's Two-Day Trip to London

Welcome back to a new week with us! This time, join Marit as she takes you on a thrilling journey through her two-day escapade in the vibrant city of London, U.K. From iconic landmarks to dazzling Christmas decorations and an unforgettable night at Mamma Mia the Party, this weekend was nothing short of magical.

The Spontaneous London Adventure
This past weekend, I embarked on a spontaneous trip to London with her long-time friend Soraya, whom she met during her swim career. The idea came from their shared desire to experience London during the festive holiday months and, to attend Mamma Mia the Party. With a 'f*ck it' attitude, we quickly planned the trip and discovered it was surprisingly affordable to fly off to London and check off two items on our bucket list.

Jet-Setting to London
Thursday kicked off with attending morning classes, followed by a quick home stop to freshen up before catching our 21:00hr flight. A mere hour later, we touched down in London, setting the stage for a minor transportation hiccup. After waiting for a bus that never arrived, a last-minute Uber ride brought us to the hotel around midnight, signaling the start of their London adventure.

Exploring Iconic Landmarks
The next morning began with a delicious breakfast, setting the stage for a day of exploration. Navigating London's efficient metro system, Soraya and I first visited the Big Ben and the London Eye, capturing breathtaking views of the city. Buckingham Palace followed, complete with the impressive Changing of the Guards ceremony, though the massive crowd tested our patience...!

Shopping Extravaganza
We then ventured to the M&M store, marveling at its five expansive levels. Regent Street and Oxford Street showcased London's Christmas spirit, with dazzling decorations adorning the streets. I took advantage of the Gymshark Black Friday deals while exploring the bougie Nike store and other unique shops that London had to offer.

As the sun set, the city transformed into a spectacle of lights, leaving us in awe of its beauty. The day concluded with a visit to Mamma Mia the Party, an experience that left us exhilarated and entertained, complete with delicious food and a memorable sing-along (I will add some videos on Instagram).

A Day of Souvenirs and Sightseeing
On the second day, the exploration continued with visits to the London Bridge, Starbucks for souvenir mugs, and the acquisition of a Harry Potter wand holder. A leisurely stroll along Oxford Street allowed us to soak in more of London's charm before it was time to bid the city farewell and head back to the airport.

Short But Sweet
Despite the brevity of their trip, it was 100% worth it. The memories created and the sheer enjoyment made it feel as if we had been away for days. Be sure to check out the attached photos and videos for a glimpse into our whirlwind adventure.
