Welcome to Worlds Apart Words Together!

Get to know us!

Hello, readers! My name is Leah and I am excited to introduce myself to you. I was born in the United States; however, I spent half of my childhood and adolescence living in Australia.

From a very young age, I had a passion for swimming, and I was fortunate enough to have the opportunity to pursue this passion as a competitive swimmer from the age of 6. This journey led me to become an NCAA collegiate swimmer over the last seven years, where I gained invaluable experiences that have shaped me into the person I am today.

While in college, I developed a deep interest in human physiology, sports science, and nutrition. This interest ultimately led me to pursue a Graduate degree in Sports Science and Performance Specialization, which I am currently working towards. I am fascinated by how the human body works and how it responds to different stimuli, especially when it comes to sports, the environment, and physical activity.

When I'm not immersed in my studies, I enjoy spending time outdoors and exploring the world around me. I love hiking and camping, and I find that being in nature helps me to clear my mind and stay grounded. I also have a love for travel and experiencing different cultures, as well as trying out new foods and cuisines.

Now I'll go on and introduce myself! My name is Marit and I was born and raised in the Netherlands and have spent the past 5 years in the United States to earn my degree and compete in college swimming at the same time.

As well as Leah, I started swimming at a young age and it has been an absolute roller coaster I don't know where I would've been if it wasn't for swimming.

During my first four years in college, I spent my time pursuing a degree in psychology with minors in criminology and criminal justice and health and wellness. Currently, I am pursuing a Master of Science in criminal justice. I hope to apply this knowledge in a carrier in criminal behavioral analysis.

When I'm not spending my time working towards my degree, I love to read and explore new places and things. I love preparing food but living on campus makes it more difficult to do, so during summer I always try to bake and cook a lot!

We hope you will find this blog interesting and fun to read and we're super happy that you decided to join us in our adventures!
